Dirk Flege was born in 1965 and has been managing executive director of the Allianz pro Schiene in Germany since 2001. Previous employers include: German Federal Parliament (research employee), Deutsche Post (manager for new products in the company HQ in Bonn), the transport organization Verkehrsclub Deutschland and the environmental group NABU - in both cases as managing director. Trained as a newspaper journalist at the Nordwest-Zeitung in Oldenburg.
Holds two university degrees: in political science and public law from the University of Hamburg, and in economics (Master of Business Marketing) from the FU in Berlin.
Member of the advisory boards (Beirat) of the following organizations:
